Emergency Impact

Times of crisis are often defining moments for individuals as well as companies.

Companies with unprepared employees/families will likely be missing the most critical resource for recovery "people".

Emergency/Disaster events are an opportunity - an opportunity to fail or succeed in managing events as they unfold.

Take a minute to think about the unthinkable!

A disaster or emergency has struck your company.  Maybe it was Mother Nature.  Maybe it was the flu.  Maybe it was workplace violence.  Maybe even the local power company or even a catastrophic regional disaster.

In any event, your entire company is crippled in a matter of minutes.  Even though your facilities may be intact you are unable to operate.  Are you prepared to…….

  • AVOID those disasters you can mitigate,

  • PREPARED for those you cannot avoid,

  • SURVIVING those disasters that strike you,

  • RECOVERING from those you survive.

“Emergency preparedness is not a luxury; it is a cost of doing business in the post-9/11 world. It is ignored at a tremendous potential cost in lives, money, and national security.”

9/11 Commission Final Report July 22, 2004

According to studies conducted by the Gartner Group and others in recent years, 60 percent of businesses are under prepared for disasters and emergencies and 40% of companies that experience a disaster go out of business within five years.

Companies need to take steps to safeguard their people as well as their equipment, property and other physical assets to ensure their ability to return to normal operations as quickly as possible.  If unprepared, even the smallest of unexpected incidents can be deemed "disasters" in business terms and can have huge implications.

Are you unsure of how to go about creating or updating your company’s Business Contingency Plan?  Want a better way to organize your current plan or looking for a better approach to hold each department accountable for their plan while consolidating all the information in an easy to use manner.

With our more than 350 templates you can create a comprehensive plan in a reasonable amount of time.  We have assembled templates that focus on specific areas as well as documents that deal with most disaster/emergency events.  This cost-effective product will help you develop a company wide solution that is easy to use and meets compliance regulations.

How prepared is your company? Can you answer YES to the following?

Does your facility have an emergency plan (other than the basic fire evacuation plan)?

Does it outline how the facility will cope during and following an emergency?

         Can you locate it now?

What date was it updated last?

Who is responsible for managing the plan?

Can you confirm that all managers have access to the plan?

Are your senior managers/executives organized in a formal Business Continuity Program Team so that they can   address the overall crisis management and business continuity at a high level?   Does it include an up-to-date Disaster Team?
Have you decided how to handle the media during an event?
Does your plan meet industry compliance standards?
Are you aware of the legal and fiduciary responsibilities of management?
Is each department held responsible for their plans and are they reviewed and available to management
Do you have available evacuation, shelter in place, and personnel accountability procedures
Have you determined what parts of your business need to be operational as soon as possible following a disaster, and planned how to resume those operations ?
Could you communicate with your employees if a disaster happened during work hours or after work hours?
Are your vital records protected from the harm that could be caused by a disaster?
Have you consulted with an insurance professional to determine if your insurance coverage is adequate to help you get back in business following a disaster?
Have off-site storage procedures for forms, keys, Information Systems, Files, insurance info, etc been established and documented?

EmergencyPlan.com addresses these issues

Why most Disaster/Emergency plans fail.

Many companies large and small have implemented very comprehensive Disaster/Emergency plans, only to find they were of little value when needed.

Throughout the past fifteen years, during our Information Systems audits of Banks, Manufacturing Companies, Government agencies, etc., we have found only a handful of Disaster/Emergency plans that were accurate and available for use.  Most often they were outdated and/or they could not be found.

Our mission was to develop easy to use Emergency planning solution's that were always available and easy to keep updated.  As a result EmergencyPlan.com was developed.

EmergencyPlan.com is designed to eliminate the two reasons most Disaster/Emergency plans are ineffective.

1.                  The plan is outdated

2.                  The plan is unavailable

With anytime/anywhere access to EmergencyPlan.com, everyone (Employees, Media, Management, Emergency Teams, Customers, etc.) can be informed.  EmergencyPlan.com’s ease of use allows everyone access information, based upon their security level.

EmergencyPlan.com’s unique real-world functionality helps keep all people informed while providing accurate and timely Action Plans for specific emergency events.

Ultimately, EmergencyPlan.com is the tool that helps you manage the ever-increasing requirement for addressing emergencies from minor events to major disasters.

EmergencyPlan.com is designed for easy implementation and start-up while providing the opportunity to customize the information for your specific company and/or locations.

Emergency Contact & Reference Information

In addition to the Emergency Action plans, which are focused on Emergency Events, EmergencyPlan.com also maintains vital Company Emergency information.

We strongly believe that in order to minimize the effects of an Emergency, two types of information is needed.

  *  Emergency Action Plans (Instructions on how to deal with a particular event.)

  *  Emergency Contact & Reference Information (key information needed to inform individual resources and the community as well as corrective actions.)

EmergencyPlan.com maintains the following information to ensure that in the event of an Emergency, your company management and Emergency Teams are prepared to act quickly and accurately with complete reference information.
